what a rainy weekend! wow...flashflood watches everywhere over here.

well, that didn't stop us. my lil' trooper, ian and my dh had a boys' day. they went up to the army and did some male bonding...it was adorable. ian woke up and got his shaver (plastic toy one of his aunts gave for Christmas) and woke up the whole house screaming, "daddddddddddy...time to shave!!!!!!" then ian put on all his army gear (that he personally laid out the prior night) including dogtags, an army hat, camouflage teeshirt, pants, socks and his winter boots...it was so cute...and i wished i took a picture of father and son dressing alike...but of course, i didn't think of it until now. isn't it funny how even the mundane times of your life can be something spectacular? for being a 6.5 year old boy, he truly is showing us how much he loves + admires his dad. really a sweet age to be...

now, that the boys have gone...it was just me + my lil' princess, shioban for the day...after CFF (Christian Faith Formation classes) and Sunday mass, we decided to do something out of the ordinary...we wanted to see a movie...just to be with girls...she truly missed one of her cousins, Jade...so we called her and asked if she'd like to check out the new movie-Coraline...i only vaguely remember seeing a blurp on a commercial on tv, thinking how cute and adorable 'Coraline's' name was and how sweet she looked on tv.

um...remind me to always read previews before going to see a 'scary' film...i mean, i enjoyed it-the visual effects were fantastic but really my 6.5 yr old lil' one and my 7.5 yr old niece were frightened in alot of spots...i felt terrible because, even if it said it was a 'pg' movie, i should've taken the girls to watch that movie with all the dogs...you know the one where someones' chihuahua was missing?! yikes!

the girls liked the good parts (when Coraline was being treated nicely by the you know whos and getting all the nice stuff...) but what scared them the most was when the you know who changed into something not so nice and wanted to sew buttons on someone's you know what... i know...kinda scary but the girls both learned something about the movie...always LOVE + RESPECT your TRUE mama + papa even in hardtimes...understand that sometimes you can't always get EVERYTHING you want...be very CAUTIOUS when someone wants to give YOU ANYTHING + EVERYTHING...be happy with what you have and if you really want something, you have to work hard for it-never give up!

whew...we had a long conversation about this movie... i think this movie would've been more suited for older kids-say 13+ so a rating of pg 13 with horror/dark like features would've been a more appropriate rating (well, really movies like these are a bit too edgy for lil' ones...or children no matter what age, i think...sometimes, i think books and movies like these can give children terrible ideas, trauma to the soule...so maybe changing it to a more restrictive adult rating would probably be more appropriate).

anyway, my lil one, sweet niece and i enjoyed each others company, esp. afterwards... a little shamrock shake and imaginative play (off on adventures with each other (plus playing with ian), pillows, dollies and backpacks) were all good for the soule...no nightmares...whew!
